Parallel Lines
How quiet it was. Even the wind, silent across the sand. I didn’t climb that day. Walked all day instead. Hiking and scrambling through the desert. Alone. Mostly sure I wasn’t lost. Hoping I wasn’t. Only really sure at the end of the day when I came out into this valley and recognised the hills in front of me. Sure enough then that I sat and waited for the stars. The light first gold then blue then fading into black.
